Lately, with so much buzz going around in regards to my appearance on a reality cooking show. I have been overwhelmed (in the best way) with love and support from so many of you. From emails, to texts, to phone calls…everyone has been tremendously kind in their words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I can’t help but notice the overall vibe of the communications (here are some samples)…see if you notice something…
~ “I’m not making a lot of money, just about breaking even in fact, but having the time of my life because I’m doing what I love doing, and was meant to. SO ARE YOU. Never lose that focus, kiddo, it WILL take you where you need to be! OK?”~
~“It’s great to see someone pursue their passion, not everyone does.”~
~“Tracy, keep following this passion…it can’t help but bring good things.”~
That’s right, nearly 90% of the emails I receive have been about following my passion and my heart. I love it! Thank you for taking notice.
Because of this I’d like share someone else’s story that has always inspired me to take action and literally “Go For It!” … let me introduce Jessica Padron, owner of The Urban Farmer
Jessica Padron was once an accountant. Working behind a desk day-to-day living a comfy life, she could have easily continued with this lifestyle well into the next decade…
Then, miraculously (as a baby is just that), into the world comes Bella Sofia. This little being changed her life. With so much controversy regarding food safety/scares, sustainability, and the overall food regulation in this country, Jessica was struck by a profound send of responsibility. The responsibility of caring for this new little person, providing the proper building blocks for her health and development, became her innate initiative. This is what drove Jessica Padron to take action.
If she wanted to know all the details as to where her food was coming from, or about how it grew, she knew she would need to do it herself. This is when the accountant decided to become a farmer.
With her business partner and friend Jon Albee, the two embarked on an entirely new journey different than their previously comfy careers. Their new path was going to be farming, so now the two had to throw themselves had into the unfamiliar…it took everything: blood, sweat, tears, permits, money, lots of dirt, and seeds (it took even more than that, but you get the point).
Through constant learning, researching, and partnerships, The Urban Farmer in Pompano Beach is now a fully functional farm. As a CSA (community supported agriculture), they exist for individuals, families, and communities that would like to know exactly where their food is grown and how it is grown. From seed to end produce, care and love goes into every plant.
While South Florida is an extremely tough market… and knowing that The Urban Farmer has an uphill battle against the corporation of mass produce, I can’t help but root for the underdog with heart, passion, and a conscious. So, if you’re like me and are looking for a way to promote change… and you happen to live in South Florida, please check out:
